Diagnostics

Comprehensive diagnostic laboratory testing is an integral part of properly diagnosing a pet’s illness and determining the right course of treatment.  These tests help veterinarians identify such conditions as blood disorders, cancer, diabetes, thyroid disease, kidney and liver disease as well as a variety of infections and hormonal issues.  At Main West Animal Hospital, we offer our patients the most advanced diagnostic services available.

Our state of the art diagnostic equipment includes:

  • Digital tonometer, which checks the eyes for excess pressure
  • Electrocardiogram, with the ability to transmit and consult with a cardiologist
  • Doppler-blood pressure monitor
  • Glucometer, which measures blood glucose levels
  • Video Otoscope
  • Endoscopy
  • In House Laboratory

We are also proud to offer digital radiography, a form of x-ray imaging that uses digital sensors rather than traditional photographic film.  This advanced diagnostic method offers improved visual quality, enlargement capabilities, and time-saving efficiency since the results can easily be sent to specialists via email.  In addition, the subsequent elimination of chemical developing is much better for the environment.

Our in-house laboratory allows us to conveniently receive the results of a variety of important tests such as blood chemistries, urinalysis, cytology, parasitology and CBC’s quickly and efficiently.  The lab is fully equipped with a vetlab station, laser cyte and catalyst Dx.  This benefits our clients and our patients by allowing us to work with speed and precision so that diagnoses can be made quickly and treatment can be determined in a timely manner.

Just as with humans, animals can suffer from a number of health conditions that can’t be seen on the outside of the body.  Main West Animal Hospital’s comprehensive diagnostic services allow us go beneath the surface to diagnose and manage both minor and major health problems, and our in-house lab lets us receive the results fast so treatment can be administered in a timely manner and your pet can get back to feeling well again.
