Natasha

Client Care Advocate

Although she’d always adored animals, Natasha never imagined she would work in a veterinary clinic. When the company she’d previously worked for closed, she decided to try out a new path: animal care. Now, Natasha learns something new every day as one of the hospital’s Client Care Advocates!

Natasha is a Welland native and joined the Main West Animal Hospital family in 2015. Her favorite parts of the job are seeing the different personalities that pets bring to the clinic and getting to know their owners on a personal level.

At home, Natasha has a few pets of her own. She owns three lovable dogs—Annie, Roo, and Jackson—as well as a pair of cats named Gwen and Oliver.

When she has time outside of work, Natasha enjoys traveling and discovering new cultures. One of her most memorable trips occurred a few years ago, when she had the opportunity to spend a few months in South Africa!

Amanda

Registered Veterinary Technician

Amanda cannot remember a time when she didn’t want to work with animals—it’s been her dream since she was very young, growing up in Sarnia, Ontario. She’s thrilled to work alongside her skilled and compassionate fellow team members to better the lives of pets here at Main West Animal Hospital!

Amanda joined the clinic family in November of 2014. As a Registered Veterinary Technician, she particularly enjoys placing catheters, drawing blood, assisting in surgery, and educating pet parents on their animal companions’ complex behavior patterns and dietary needs.

In her free time, Amanda enjoys camping with her family and working out at the gym—she’s also a personal trainer! She lives with her husband, their son, and four cats. Mojo and Coors are sisters and enjoy cuddling whenever the opportunity presents itself; Yoda is a hairless Sphinx cat who acts more like a human than a cat; and Kenya serves as the mother figure of the bunch.

Sara

Registered Veterinary Technician

Sara was very young when she first decided that she would one day work with animals. She even recalls rolling her family dog, Brandon, into a mock “surgery” on an old television cart! For Sara, a career in the veterinary world simply makes sense; she gets to help animals on a daily basis as a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Sara is originally from Amherstburg, Ontario. She began volunteering in Windsor and helping with fundraising efforts for the Windsor-Essex Humane Society, then moved to Niagara Falls to volunteer with the Niagara Falls Humane Society. Sara then applied to St. Clair College’s veterinary technician program to earn her degree in veterinary technology. She became a Registered Veterinary Technician after passing her exams, and was thrilled to join the Main West Animal Hospital care team in February of 2016.

When time allows outside of work, Sara likes playing baseball, rollerblading, enjoying the great outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. She lives in Niagara Falls with her fiancé, her young daughter, and two loveable dogs. Emma is a 70-pound Labrador mix who thinks she’s a lap dog, and Bailey the Coton de Tuléar considers herself Sara’s biggest fan.

Lauren

Veterinary Assistant, Client Care Advocate

Before Lauren was an employee here at Main West Animal Hospital, she was a client, and often brought her own family pets to be examined. She’s happy to be able to now give something back by working as a member of the clinic team!

Born and raised in Niagara, Lauren joined Main West Animal Hospital’s talented care team in the spring of 2015, and works as a Veterinary Assistant and Client Care Advocate. On the medical side of things, her favourite part of the work is assisting with X-rays and ultrasounds. Most of all, though, she loves getting to know pet owners personally and hearing clients’ fun stories about their furry friends.

At home, Lauren has two pets of her own. She lives with Spike, an adopted Labrador/Dalmatian mix who loves howling along to music, as well as a playful Bernese mountain dog and German shepherd mix named Bella.

When time permits away from the clinic, Lauren can be found hiking with her dogs, playing soccer, or spending time with family and friends.

Phill

Client Care Advocate

Phill grew up in Fonthill, Ontario, where animal care was a natural part of life. He tended to everything from dogs and cats to chickens, horses, ferrets, goats, and even peacocks! By working in the veterinary world, Phill gets to spend time around the creatures who bring him joy while using his skills to ultimately better the lives of others.

Phill was first approached by a member of the Main West Animal Hospital team at his previous job, and couldn’t be happier to begin his veterinary journey here. He’s been a part of the clinic family since early 2016, and serves as a Client Care Advocate. Around the hospital, Phill especially likes learning new things from his skilled coworkers, seeing a wide variety of animal personalities, and getting to know pet owners on a personal level.

Outside of his interests in the animal-care field, Phill enjoys working out at the gym and training in taekwondo. He’s been participating in taekwondo for 13 years, and is now a second-degree black belt! He also likes spending quality time with his own pets at home. Phill and his family live with Zoey, a laid-back Pomeranian/Shih Tzu mix, as well as an elderly cat named Lily who prefers to spend most of her time out on the patio.

Christina

Client Care Advocate

Christina has always been a people person, and her inclination toward pets comes naturally. What better way to pair her love of animals with her nurturing instinct, she thought, than by helping pet owners in a veterinary clinic? Christina serves as one of Main West Animal Hospital’s Client Care Advocates.

Christina is from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and moved to Ontario in 2000. She previously worked as an Educational Assistant in the human healthcare field, caring for special-needs patients. In 2015, she made the decision to switch careers; that’s when she started looking for jobs in the veterinary world. Christina was thrilled to join the Main West Animal Hospital family in January of 2016, and is particularly fond of the fast-paced clinic environment. Ultimately, she loves working alongside her talented coworkers to bring the highest-quality brand of veterinary medicine possible to the area’s pet owners.

Outside of work, Christina loves getting lost in a good book and spending quality time with her family at home. She and her husband have two wonderful children and also share their lives with a spunky dog named Molly.

Rachel

Office Manager

As a high school student in 1992, Rachel thought working in a vet clinic would be a fun summer job. Little did she know how quickly she would grow to love the environment, her clients, her co-workers, and the pets! Over 20 years later, she still works in the profession as the Office Manager of Main West Animal Clinic.

Rachel grew up in Smooth Rock Falls in Northern Ontario, but lived in California, South Carolina, Alberta, and then Welland as a kid. During high school, Rachel got a job as the evening receptionist at Main West, then attended Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsey, Ontario, graduating with a degree in Terrain and Water Resources. She returned to Main West after graduation and was offered a full-time position.

Rachel wears many hats as Office Manager: she ensures the clinic runs smoothly, oversees and trains the staff, does inventory, schedules, and fills in wherever needed! She enjoys getting to know clients and their pets and creating lifelong partnerships.

At home, Rachel lives with her husband Jon, their 10-year-old son Quinn, and their five-year-old daughter Leah. Their furry family includes a cat named Simon and a Golden Retriever puppy named Maple Bacon. The family recently had to get a bigger vehicle to accommodate the dog!

Outside of work, Rachel loves spending time outdoors with her family. They spend their summers visiting Ontario Provincial Parks, and are especially proud of being “real” campers and using tents!
